The giant horse transportation company were the major sponsors for the recent Harness Jewels held at Addington and boss David Cole and his team loved the experience so much they have gone again.
They have the overall naming rights to the IRT Inter Dominion Championship 2019, which will be run in conjunction with Alexandra Park’s ‘Christmas at the Races’ starting 15 November.
The series will be the first held in New Zealand since 2011 and will see the return of the pacing and trotting series to these shores after the trotting series was canned in 2012.
“We are thrilled to get IRT on board for what is going to be such a huge carnival,” said ATC executive director Rod Croon.
“David and his team loved their time at the Jewels and we all know what a huge part of the equine industry they are in this part of the world.
“So to have them on board so early and to able to work toward the series with us is very satisfying.”
IRT boss David Cole shared Croon’s enthusiasm.
“IRT is very happy to be the naming sponsor of the IDOM19,” said Cole.
“We are grateful to the Auckland Trotting Club for allowing IRT this opportunity as this event has been steeped in history between Australia & New Zealand for many years.
I am sure it will be an outstanding success for all concerned”.
