Tony 'the iceman' Herlihy looking for further Alex Park success this Friday night
Papakura trainer Tony Herlihy has had another great season here at The Park, leading both our trainers & drivers premiership. The man they call ‘the iceman’ has been on fire in recent weeks, bagging the trifecta in the feature pace last week. With four runner’s engaged for this Friday’s meeting, he looks a strong chance to further add to his season’s tally.
Here’s what the iceman had to say:
Race 1 (10) Mr Euroman – “ÏHe is racing real well and deserves a winning turn after finishing runner up to nice types in his past 2 starts. He has a slightly awkward draw but he is a versatile type and if we aren’t able to get a run through early, he can be saved for one last run at them and get over them late. This type of race is well within his grasp and he rates as my best chance of the night.”
Race 6 (4) Bettors Pocket – “ÏHe is another that is racing really well and he will be suited by the standing start here with his good manners and ability to step and put himself in a handy position early. The small field will suit and if he can reproduce his good run last week, he rates as a top three chance here.”
Race 6 (5) Hank Bromac – “ÏHe won really well last week and is another that has been going really good races in the past couple of months. He’s not as full proof from the stand as my other runner in the race but he is learning all the time and the small field will help him find his feet early if he is to get away slowly. He is a horse with potential and if he is to do everything right and can replicate his run from last week, he too rates as a top three prospect.”
Race 7 (6) Liberty Styx – “ÏShe is as honest as they come and another that has been putting in really well in recent months against very similar fields to what she faces on Friday. If she can get a bit of luck in the running from her slightly awkward alley, she rates as a top three player for sure.”
