Dec 1, 2016 Trainer Interviews

Robert Dunn is no stranger to having nice horses in his barn and he looks to have another promising type in his barn currently in the form of 2YO Art Major colt The Brooklyn Brawler. The colt qualified in early November and has been making steady progress at the workouts since in preparation for his first race night outing. The team have some bigger plan on the horizon in the form of the Young Guns series but with a limited amount of 2YO's ready to hit the track this week, he finds himself slotting into the non-winners grade and according to his trainer, he won't be out of place. Robert also has last start winner Wrangler in for the team on Friday night so looks a barn to follow with close intent this Friday night. Here's what Robert had to say.

Race 2 (7) The Brooklyn Brawler – “He’s come up real good for his first race start. He’s had a couple trials to prepare for this since qualifying and Maurice has been with him the whole way through. His first couple we took him back to teach him a few things and then last weekend we went a little harder on him and let him stride to the top and he held really nicely against the older, more experienced runners. He’s a 2YO with quite a lot of upside and with the 2YO race not getting enough runners this week, we felt he was up to tackling the older non-winners in preparation for the first of the Young Guns heats on the 16th. He’s such a lovely gaited horse with a real sense of maturity about him and we expect him to be able to acquit handle the occasion on Friday. He is only going to improve with the run and you can never play down the benefit of the race night experience which many of his rivals have over him but he is a horse with ability and we expect this to just be the start of better things to come.”

Race 6 (5) Wrangler – “He’s going real good this guy and his easy win last time out  was well deserved. He’s trained on excellent this week and we couldn’t be happier with how he has progressed through this campaign. Friday will be a big step up in class though and he is taking on some fairly smart types that have much more race experience than him but he is quite smart himself and would definitely be a real good chance to at least fill a place in this race.”
