Raptors Flight leading the way for a very strong Barry Purdon trained team this Friday night at The Park

Nov 16, 2016 Trainer Interviews

Barry Purdon has six runners lining up at The Park this Friday night and he looks odds on to add to his already impressive tally of 10 wins on the track so far this season. Impressive Bettor's Delight 3YO Raptor's Flight looks to be leading the way for Barry and the team this Friday night on the dropback from a fast finishing fourth in a Sires Stakes heat back to the non-winners grade here on Friday night. The AP newsdesk caught up with Barry to discuss his team's chances and here's what he had to say.

Race 2 (8) Rariza – “She’s racing really well at the moment but this week will be another step up again for her. The draw doesn’t make life easy but Mango stays on and he seems to get along really nicely with her so we will look to press forward and hopefully with a bit of luck, I would expect her to be fighting out the finish.”

Race 2 (10) Laredo Torpedo – “Again he’s another that is racing really well and he really deserved his last start win. That run at Cambridge was a real confidence booster for him and we’re hoping he can go on with it as he is a horse with definite ability. The draw has probably worked out quite well for him as he will be able to stay out of the early rush and hopefully get himself a nice drag through from the second line and if he is able to get into clear air in the final 400m, he is well capable of getting over the top of these.”

Race 3 (7) Raptors Flight –” This is quite a significant drop in class for him coming back from a really strong effort for fourth in a Sires Stakes heat back into a non-winners maiden race. He trailled up really nicely on the weekend and he work at home has been spot on since. I am expecting him to go close and rate him as the best winning chance from my team on Friday night.”

Race 4 (4) Ideal Belle – “She went really well last time out, doing all the work in the running and only just getting pipped by the horse that had the drop on her the whole way. That was a really pleasing sign to see her getting back to something like her best and she has continued to imrpove off the back of that run and is really wokring into this prep nicely. We are really happy with her and wexpect her to go close to taking this out.”

Race 4 (8) Aliante – “She gets into this race with the junior claim but the draw is going to make life tough over the 1700m so she will most likely be driven for a bit of luck here. She is heading down to Addington next week for the mares race so we will be looking for her to be running on giving us connfidence heading into that. She is a very nice mare and this field holds no fear to a mare of her class but the way the race is liekly to pan out possibly means she is best kept for trifecta’s and first 4s this week.”

Race 9 (2) Loveonthelawn – “This filly can trot. She is handful and can put on a display at times but the motor is there and when she learns what the game is all about, she will win her share of races. She has been a bit hit and miss at the start in her recent workouts but she put it all together on the weekend just gone and won really well so that was pleasing headfing into this. First up at The Park under lights is always a tough ask but if she steps and gets around in one piece, this race would be well within her reach.”
