Rakarazor looks the goods for team Dixon this Thursday night at The Park

Dec 22, 2016 Trainer Interviews

Pukekohe trainer Gareth has a nice team in behind him at the moment and leading the way for the stable is the very talented Rocknroll Hanover mare Rakarazor. After her fast finishing fourth in behind Dream About Me in the Group One Rosslands Queen of Hearts, the step back to a Thursday night at The Park should nearly see this very talented mare home. The AP newsdesk caught up with Gareth to see how the mare had pulled up after last Friday night's run and also to get the low down on how his maiden trotting mare Pegasus Gem was progressing through her campaign. Here's what he had to say.

Race 6 (6) Rakarazor – “She’s come through Friday night’s run really well and is fit and ready to go tonight.. She was way out of her grade so to come home quicker than anything in that race in 54.4 & 26.4 was enormous and although there are a few nice types in this field and the barrier hasn’t done her any favours, on that run she should go close to taking this out and my best winning chance of the night.”

Race 9 (5) Pegasus Gem – “This mare trialled up really nicely when winning at the workouts on the weekend against a mixture of non & race winners and the way she responded & found the line when those higher rated horses got to her wheel was really encouraging. She still has a fair bit to learn and is definitely a work in progress but the signs and improvement she has shown us in a fairly small amount of time suggests she has a bit of a future. She would still need to be taken on trust at this stage of her campaign but the ability is there and if she was to do things right, then she is well capable of getting a slice of the action.”
