Rakarazor looking sharp for Gareth Dixon and the team this Friday at The Park
Pukekohe trainer Gareth Dixon knows what it's like to have a quality mare in his barn and this Friday night at The Park he lines up another one of those in the form of Rocknroll Hanover mare Rakarazor. You've only got to look her formline to see how consistent she is and that consistency was rewarded with a slashing fourth in the Group One Harness Jewels behind Piccadilly Princess earlier in the year. Rakkarazor returns to the track on Friday night and on the back of an impressive workout last weekend, Gareth rated her his best winning chance of the three horses he has lined up for this Friday night. Here's what Gareth had to say about his team.
Race 6 (3) Poppy Drayton – “I’m pleased with her work and the way she has come up for her first run back in about 7 weeks. She is a tough filly and has gone some really nice races off hard runs against some really nice types. She will continue to improve with the racing but I am expecting her to be competitive and rate her an each-way chance.”
Race 8 (7) Rakarzor – “The way she attacked the line in her trial on the weekend really pleased me and pointed to a big run first up. She is a quality mare and has gone some massive races against some really nice company. Her work at home heading into this has also really pleased me and I couldn’t be happier with how she has come back off her spell. She should be hard to beat and the best winning chance of my three on Friday night.”
Race 9 (3) Pegasus Gem – “It will be her first racenight run this Friday night and that is never easy for any horse. She is still very inexperienced and a long way from been full proof in her gait. She has been trialing up nicely but racenight is another step up and this will be a massive learning curve for her. She has her share of abilty but her inexperience will most likely count against her in this. We will be happy if she can get around safely and learn what the racing game is all about but that doesn’t mean to say if everything fall into place for her she wouldn’t be able to fill a top three placing but she is best watched this week in my opinion.”
