Major Rocket looks a major chance for the Dalgety trained barn this Friday night at The Park
Cran Dalgety is one of New Zealand's premier trainers and its very rare for the West Melton trainer to venture north without taking home a slice of the action. The team didn't get all of the luck when stepping out under the ribbon of lights here last Friday night but Cran thinks that this Friday night could be a bit of a different story. The AP newsdesk caught up with Cran and here's what he had to say.
Race 1 (8) Major Rocket – “She lined up in the Sires Stakes fillies heat last week and probably found the likes of Spanish Armada & Delightful Memphis just a little bit tough, although in saying that she didn’t have all the luck in running copping a check and losing momentum. She is quite a nice filly and the drop back from age group racing will be noticeable for her. The draw hasn’t done her any favours but if she can strike a bit of luck I would expect her to be real competitive and I would rate her my best winning chance of the night.”
Race 7 (11) Christen Me – “He probably should’ve won last weeks Summer Cup with the run that he had I thought. He needed that run though and he has continued to improve this week. He’s probably still one run away from hitting top gear but he is such a class horse that you couldn’t discount his chances. The main aim is the Cup and all going well through Friday night he will progress towards the 31st.”
Race 9 (4) On The Rantan – “He was a bit of a hard luck story last week. Nothing went right for him during the running and it really only told late. Rickly said he was striking his wheel during the run and it really fired him up causing him to just use too much petrol. He wasn’t that far away at the finish and even after all that had happened, he looked like he had them in a bit of trouble approaching the turn. He’s come through that run well though and heads into Friday night with a good top three chance I would say.”
