Keep your eye on the Dunn trained pair in the first of the Young Guns heat this Friday night
This Friday night at The Park kicks off the first night of the Premier Summer Carnival and what a feast of racing action we have in-store. Included on a night of many features is the first heat of the Young Guns series and it will be a race for the My Sky that is for sure. Robert Dunn has two horses lining up in the first heat, including impressive last start winner The Brooklyn Brawler, who lived up to his name after been headed at the top of the straight but fighting back very impressively to take the victory from race rival Royal Tribute last Friday night. Robert's chances for the night don't stop there & the AP newsdesk caught up with Robert to get the low down on how he thought the team might go. Here's what he had to say.
Race 4 (4) Alta Maestro – “He is very nice 2YO and we have been very impressed by everything that he has shown us so far. His trial on track on the weekend was exceptional I thought given the sectionals that they ran and that has given us really good confidence heading into Friday night. Both of my 2YO’s in this are really serious contenders and I would be disappointed if they weren’t able to get a major slice of the money.”
Race 4 (7) The Brooklyn Brawler – “His performance last Friday was really pleasing and it was great to see him knuckle down and tough it out when the pressure went on. He wants to be a racehorse this guy and the fact that he has had two race night starts and two looks at the track puts him in a really good position to be taking this out. We really like these two 2YO’s and expect them to go through this series as real contenders.”
Race 5 (3) Wrangler – “He has trained on super since his last start win and he really has fashioned himself into a really nice horse. This will be a big step up for him taking on the top 3YO’s but he follows pace well and will keep on fighting to to the finish. He gives me the impression that he will develop into a really nice stayer and don’t be surprised at all to see him fighting out the finish in this.”
Race 7 (7) Little Rascal – “He’s come through his Cup week runs really well and comes into this race on Friday night with a strong workout win on the weekend. Cup class is that next step up but he has high speed and he’s really starting to develop into a really nice race horse. He used to be a bit of a query from the tapes but we have been working hard on getting him to relax and we are confident of him been able to get away on terms with them. He loves going right-handed, his work at home is top notch and again he is another that won’t be out of place, despite coming up against some really quality animals.”
Race 9 (7) Alta Las Vegas – “Last week was his first run in a while and he definitely needed it. He came through it well though and has been working well at home during the week. In my opinion he is still one run away from reaching his peak, he still looks about 15kgs too heavy but this race will top him off nicely and we will have him spot on for the 31st. He is a quality horse with high speed so we will use that speed to go forward in this and as you know class is permanent so you couldn’t discount his chances if he was to be left along but as I’ve said, he will hit the 31st in peak condition and make sure you keep an eye out for him on that night.”
