Hughie’s on track but it could be Kaitlyn leading the way for Brian Hughes tomorrow night at The Park

Nov 17, 2016 Trainer Interviews

Brain 'Bunty' Hughes is a very astute trainer and whenever he lines one up at the races, you have to keep a very close eye them. This Friday night at The Park his team is headlined by his stable star, the big boy Hughie Green. But it might be the American Ideal filly Kaitlyn who has the best winning chance of the night, given she debuted so well and has come up with the plum draw for her second racenight outing. The AP newsdesk caught up with Bunty to discuss the chances of his two runners and here's what he had to say.

Race 4 (7) Hughie Green – “He hasn’t had all the luck in recent starts coming off handicaps so the return to even marks and the mobile will aid his chances on Friday night. He is working well and I can’t fault how he is feeling at home. It may be a small field but they are all quality animals so he will have to be near his best to take this out. I was happy enough with his workout on the weekend with Tony on board but Tony felt as thought there could be a bit of improvement in him to come. He is clearly good enough to win and don’t be suprised to see him do so but he will continue to improve with the racing.”

Race 6 (1) Kaitlyn – “She comes up with a nice draw for this on Friday and on the back of her impressive workout win on the weekend, we are expecting a big run from her. She is bright and well at home and her work points towards her been able to go one better than her debut second. She got off the gate well in her workout but it can be a diferent story on racenight. If she has the speed to use the draw we will otherwise we will look to take a sit and come under them late. She is a nice filly and her work at home says she should go close to taking this out on Friday and given the field and her draw, she would rate as my best winning chance of the night.”
