Dave & Clare McGowan looking for back-to-back Alex Park success
Dave & Clare McGowan stepped out a very smart trotter in Inkyroe last week and she could not have been more impressive in taking out her debut outing. This week the team look to continue on their winning way with 3 good chances in for Friday night, headlined by the smart last start winner Harrysul who has shown very good talent in his first two runs at The Park. The Alex Park newsdesk caught up with Dave to assess his team’s chances for this Friday night.
Race 3 (1) Rise To Success – “She is a smart wee thing but this race won’t be easy for her. We were hoping to get a free win before the end of the season but we meet a few talented and seasoned types in this and it may not pan out that way. The 2700m probably doesn’t suit her that much at this stage as she is still growing and getting stronger with racing but she does have ability and a smart sprint on her so if she was to get a nice run throughout and the gaps appeared at the right time, she definitely has the ability to finish in the money. Keep an eye out for her in the future as she will only get better as time goes on.”
Race 6 (6) Harrysul – “This boy continues to improve and his confidence is growing all the time. He was massive first time up in the north to get as close as he did after an early break and then was equally as impressive when he had to work in the run but was still too strong for them last time out. His gait continues to improve and he felt beautiful and full of confidence when we worked him this morning. He will continue to improve with the racing and in a very similar field to what he has performed with such merit in his first two at The Park, he has to rate a massive winning chance again.”
Race 9 (5) Stunning Shadow – “This horse is full of talent and we are yet to see the best of him. He has been a bit of a problem child and has had his issues but we are making good progress with him and have his body in good shape. He has any amount of ability and has run some cracking races but he is just lacking a wee bit of ringcraft and confidence at this stage to fully show what we know he is capable of. He is still at a learning stage and will only benefit from racing but if Friday night was to be the night he put it all together, he would have no issues winning a race like this. He is another to keep an eye out for in the future as he will win his share of races.”
