American Empress to impress for Jeremy Young but Circus Boy could be the party pooper
Jeremy Young is a very astute young trainer and this Friday night at The Park he lines up four horses, including the return to the track of his stable star Brydon Ideal. But it won't be him that is leading the way for Jeremy this Friday night as the talented American ideal filly American Empress drops back to non-winners company off the back of a fast finishing last start second in a heat of the Sires Stakes for fillies. The AP newsdesk caught up with Jeremy to discuss his teams chances and while he rated American Empress his best winning chance of the night, he said that a cheeky place bet on Circus Boy at huge odds might not be the worst bet you ever make. Here's what he had to say.
Race 2 (13) Circus Boy – “He gets back to a race on Friday where I think he will be more competitive than in recent starts. His manners have been letting him down in saying that though so he will need to step cleanly to have any show but I think following them through from the 30m line will help him in doing so. His work at home is good and he will need to trot all the way to have any show over 2200m but if he was to do everything right, I think he would be a really good outside place chance at massive odds as he can trot alright this guy when he has hid mind on the job.”
Race 5 (7) Brydon Ideal – “This is his first run back from a spell up against some nice types so he will be hard pressed to beat these on Friday night. He does have ability though and we have bigger things on the horizon for him over the coming weeks so we will be happy if he can be running home and progressing towards some of the features here at The Park over December.”
Race 9 (2) Harper Franco – “She went quite a tidy litle race in a stronger non-winners race last time out than what she meets on Friday. She has been showing gradual improvement which is pleasing and I don’t see any reason why she won’t continue to progress. She has gate speed so we will definitely look to take advantage of that and sit handy to the pace. I think the one drawn inside us will be hardest to beat but I would expect her to be right there at the finish.”
Race 10 (1) American Empress – “She went massive last time out in a heat of the Sires Stakes flashing home late and making up a stack of ground for second against some really nice animals. I gave her 9 days off and she has really benefitted from that. She is working well at home, comes up with the good draw and I epect her to be really hard to beat and my best winning chance of the night.”
