Corporate Services Manager

The Corporate Services Manager will provide strategic, financial and operational leadership to a range of business areas.

The Auckland Trotting Club Inc. is a 125 year old club that operates a membership based organisation which owns and operates the premier venue for Harness Racing in the North Island and races most Friday nights of the year.

Alexandra Park employs over 200 staff and operates a medium sized business that focuses on Harness Racing, Property Development, Venue Management via a Function Centre (with a considerable in-house Food & Beverage business), The Alex Bar and Eatery and one of the most successful TAB’s in New Zealand.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Corporate Services Manager will provide strategic, financial and operational leadership to a range of business areas including finance, gaming, human resources, health and safety, information technology (IT), strategic planning and delivery, stakeholder relationships and engagement, property administration and regulatory and compliance. A priority for the role is the development of its people to ensure that staff reach their optimal potential and the company has the capability and culture required for the ongoing growth of the business. Whilst proven modern specialist HR disciplines are important, this is a broadly based role with significant opportunity for leadership in a diverse range of related activities.


Applicants will demonstrate the following attributes:


  • Proven strategic and commercial acumen including the identification, analysis, evaluation, planning and execution of new projects and initiatives, including revenue, growth, business development and cost efficiencies as part of the strategic planning process.
  • Signficant financial planning / forecasting, cashflow management, accounting and reporting experience and oversight of day-to-day operations of a diverse small to medium sized business operations.
  • Effectively manage and oversee all aspects of Finance, Human Resources (including payroll), Health and Safety (OSH), Gaming, Information Technology, Property administration and Regulatory and Compliance functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, lead and motivate high performing teams in a robust and demanding business.
  • Proven ability to review and implement smart and effective business policies, processes and practices to efficiently support business growth of Alexandra Park
  • The ability to develop and take ownership of the delivery of strategic plans and shape a collaborative culture
  • Used to working with a high level of autonomy, accountability, accuracy and influence
