Overview
Auckland Cup Week is one of the truly great events of New Zealand Racing and we invite you to experience the excitement in 2012.
In 2006 the three racing codes Harness, Greyhounds and Thoroughbreds aligned their Auckland Cups to create a Cup Carnival with a week of entertainment options. The amalgamation of these events into Auckland Cup Week has created the opportunity to promote the carnival as an iconic week to Auckland that brings significant benefits through national and international travel as well as locals taking the opportunity to celebrate their home town. Auckland Cup Week is one of New Zealand’s major racing carnivals and Auckland’s biggest party.
The Auckland Cup Carnival for Alexandra Park has built up to be an extravaganza which runs in the first week of March over two premier nights, and we expect this year to be even bigger with the continued partnership with The Child Cancer Foundation
The Trillian Trust Auckland Cup headlines the lucrative collection of premier races to be showcased over the week. The 2700 meter mobile pace will be held at Alexandra Park on Friday 9th March 2012. A collection of the world’s best trainers and horses have competed in the race with the 2011 winner being Australian Themightyquinn.
With two nights of top racing, with seven group races and $118,500 worth of prize money, the carnival is a showstopper! Away from harness racing there is a busy and diverse calendar of events and entertainment options to enjoy.
We have had great pleasure in hosting everyone over the past year and we hope you can join us in 2012.
